West Coast star Andrew Gaff has declared himself available for next months state game to raise money for the bushfire appeal.

The Victorian midfielder said watching his home state burn had been difficult, especially given he had played and enjoyed holidays in areas which have been affected.

Gaff said he’d love to be one of the Eagles selected.

“I’d be keen to play if I did get the call up,” Gaff said.

“Living over here, obviously there’s been a few bushfires in Perth and WA but in Victoria and New South Wales and South Australia is where it’s mainly been happening. We feel a bit separated from it over here.

“But growing up in Melbourne and spending a bit of time in the country through various sporting commitments when I was younger, you go to a lot of these places.

“It’s been shocking what’s been happening. If we can help in any way it would mean so much.”

Gaff has already played representative football as an AFL player. He played in the International Rules series against Ireland.

He said the chance to wear the Victorian jumper alongside some of the games best players would be an honour.

“It’d be amazing,” Gaff said.

“Any time you can play against the best and with the best would be amazing.

“We don’t get to do it too much in the AFL.”
