Yagan Square to transform into fairytale wonderland for Telethon Family Festival

Yagan Square will transform into a magical fairy tale land for the ever-popular Telethon Family Festival next Sunday.

Inspired by well-worn fairy tales that have transcended time, visitors will be able to dance in Prince Charming’s ballroom at the Cinderella Silent Disco, set off on Peter Pan’s treasure hunt, and try their hand at potion-making with Alice in Wonderland.

Youngsters will also get the chance to get up close and personal with mystical mermaids, who will put on a spectacular show and may even share a splash with the crowd.

The Yagan Ampitheatre will host a dance battle like no other at 12.45pm when mascots from across Perth — including Telethon’s very own Fat Cat — come together to bust a move in the hotly anticipated Mascot Dance Competition.

For those who can’t stop those dancing feet, the Just Dance Party will provide the space for kids to groove along to their favourite tunes.

And when that works up an appetite, visitors will be spoilt for choice with a variety of food options in Yagan Square, including the newly opened Stories, Street Eats Eatery, The Shoe, Hiss & Smoke Japanese, and Gangnam Korean BBQ.

The precinct is one of several locations being taken over in the CBD as part of the festival, which is set to entertain visitors of all ages on October 20 from 10am-4pm as it runs through RAC Arena, Wellington Street, Telethon Ave and Forrest Place.

Entry to the festival is free for all ages, and just a gold coin donation to watch the live broadcast inside RAC Arena.
