Albany Swim Club performed exceptionally well at the annual Albany Short Course Swimming Championships with four local competitors named as top achievers and a host of impressive results across their 39 swimmers.

Local members Teleya Beattie, Caitlin Williams, Bailey Ireland and Mitchell Williams were recognised as top achievers for the meet earlier this month, which was held over two days at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre, attracting 346 swimmers from 34 different clubs.

Albany Swim Club coach Marshall McAleese was thrilled with how the local club performed against strong metropolitan and regional clubs.

"They did exceptionally well - it was one of the biggest Albany Short Course events we have had," he said.

"Albany picked up a tonne of medals and I think we fared really well."

McAleese said the younger members of the Albany squad relished competing for the first time and the older members, named the Marlins, achieved plenty of personal-best times.

"The young guys did very well - it's a good learning experience for them," he said.

"The senior squad had a really high percentage of personal-best times and they all did a really heavy program of events."

Mitchell Williams and Damien McAleese both officially broke the 30-second mark for the first time in the 50m freestyle and the pair joined Beattie, Caitlin Williams, Mitchell Jones and Travis Gatward with plenty of personal-best times and medals.

Albany Swim Club also won a medal in the mixed 10-man relay.

The senior swimmer of the meet trophy was won by Kalamunda's Kirsten Pannekoek, 19, and the junior swimmer prize was awarded to West Coast Swim Club's Joe Hill, 13.

Other top achievers were Natasha Angelidis, Jenna O'Donnell, Isla Thomson, Jonte Blake, Kaiden Richings and Benjamin Vafeas.

Albany Swim Club competed in 354 events and recorded a total of 183 personal bests.
