NSW Premier Chris Minns opens new $46.6m Parramatta Police Station

Police officers working the beat in Western Sydney have moved into a sparkling new $46.6m police station that boasts solar panels, an outdoor barbecue area and an electric vehicle charging station.

The big upgrade replaces the old station that housed the force for more than 50 years.

Other features include improved audiovisual capabilities for custody, victims and witnesses and legal access, specialist support rooms for victims of sexual violence, an improved gym and staff facilities, training and conference rooms, a secured van dock and sections for crime investigation, crime prevention, taskforces, prosecutors and highway patrol.

The new station will accommodate about 180 officers.

NSW Premier Chris Minns said the new station would help the police keep the community safe.

“Police dedicate their lives to protecting their community and these new facilities will help make that work a little bit easier,” he said.

Police and Counter-Terrorism Minister Yasmin Catley said the uplift would support Western Sydney’s growing population and help the police fight domestic violence.

“A world-class police force requires world-class facilities and that’s exactly what we’re delivering,” she said.

“Addressing domestic and family violence is, and will continue to be, a top priority for the NSW Police and the NSW government and I am delighted that the new facilities support both police and victim-survivors in this effort.”
