Teams flock to Albany for $1 shot triples event
Albany Bowling Club has hosted another successful $1 Shot Classic Triples event held last Tuesday and Wednesday, which attracted more than 30 teams from around WA.
A total of 36 teams contested the two-day competition, the club’s first major event of the season where each team in every game scores $1 for every shot they score.
Albany Bowling Club trio Kevin Henderson, Alan Devine and Rick Rogers were the overall winners with 24 points plus 60, narrowly edging out defending champions and fellow ABC team John Robertson, John Dibble and Arthur Becroft on 24 points plus 33.
John Poett, Rob Stephens and Andrew Bell, also from ABC, filled third place after scoring 18 points plus 35.
Each team played eight games across the two days with players from Middleton Beach, Emu Point, Mt Barker, Denmark, Esperance, Halls Head, Safety Bay, Busselton, Augusta, Tambellup, Broomehill and Bunbury clubs taking part.
ABC president Arthur Becroft said it was a well-supported event which again attracted plenty of interest as the lawn bowls season starts up.
