ADCA 2024-25: Manypeaks win back-to-back one-day fixtures with gripping four-run win over Collingwood Park

Manypeaks secured their second straight one-day victory in a gripping four-run result against Collingwood Park at Turf North on Saturday, with the match coming down to the final over. In the Albany and Districts Cricket Association A-grade round nine contest, Peaks posted 8-199 and then had to defend 12 runs off the final Ben Southern over. However, Peaks were in the box seat given Park were nine wickets down going into the final six deliveries. Park tail-enders Ben Grey and Jaymon Spaanderman could only manage eight runs and finished 9-195 as Peaks held on for a brilliant second successive win to leapfrog their opponents on the ladder. Peaks’ top-order batters helped craft a defendable total as the top three all found worthy starts. Captain Regan Poett contributed 37 runs alongside fellow opener Seb Stanton (47) as the pair put on a 74-run opening stand. After Stanton departed, Angus McSweeney added 33 runs in a valuable 40-run partnership with Poett, and Peaks moved into triple figures with only one wicket lost. Park worked their way back into the fixture with frequent wickets to curtail the Peaks’ innings, before Ryan Kinnear’s 25 runs with the tail steadied the ship. Kinnear anchored Peak’s middle overs as his partners came and went, and helped his side to approach the 200-run mark. Freddie Sharp led Park’s attack with 3-54 from 10 overs, while Dylan Solomon took 2-32 from five overs. In pursuit, Park failed to find frequent contributors despite a maiden A-grade half-century from Solomon. Solomon scored a much-needed 59 runs from 97 balls as many of his partners failed to convert their starts. O’Shea Durack scored 25 at the top of the order, while Byron Spaanderman scored 23 in a crucial 37-run seventh-wicket stand with Solomon. Oliver Douglas (2-32), Jeremy Stewart (2-20) and Liam Davies (2-34) were impressive with the ball for Peaks as they secured their second win of the season.
