A group of innovative business students at Albany's Great Southern Institute of Technology have designed and marketed an unusual product - juggling kits - to raise funds for children in earthquake devastated Nepal.

The Certificate III in Business students were asked to develop a product in their Create Innovation in a Team Environment unit under the leadership of lecturer Robin Thomson.

Student Mark Licastro said Mr Thomson, who has a knack for juggling, gave the class inspiration to create the juggling balls, which they commissioned the institute's sewing department to put together.

"We then marketed them through Facebook - we made a page and made posters, we pretty much concentrated around the TAFE," she said.

"We sold them for $5 for a set of three or two sets of three for $8."

Mr Licastro said the idea took off, leading the group to make a second batch, raising $400 for charity. He said the project not only helped others, but provided a chance to practise valuable skills such as teamwork, delegation and leadership.
