More than just fashion standards were raised at the Featherstonehaugh Night of Fun and Fashion on September 7.

The parade of the latest boutique stock raised more than $5000 for two local charities — Solariscare Albany and Black Cat Hair Design’s Friends by Your Side program.

The evening was in honour of a Featherstonehaugh staff member and her battle for cancer.

Featherstonehaugh owner Sue Newbold said it was their way of thanking the agencies who assist those living with cancer.

“These two organisations were the people who she felt helped her (the most),” she said. “It was just a way we could help her give back to these charities.”

A further $3000 was raised by the Jo Burling Memorial Hockey match and a cancer fundraiser game by Wests Hockey Club in Busselton. The annual Albany game is played between Spencer Park and North Albany A-grade women’s teams each July for cancer awareness.

The proceeds of each fundraiser will be donated equally to both cancer support charities.
