Matthew Sellenger and Luke Wilson, who grew up in Albany and now live in Perth, will make the 965km journey over 31 days to raise money for Camp Quality.

The children’s cancer charity provides fun activities and camps as a form of therapy for families who have dealt with or are dealing with the disease.

Mr Wilson said the trip had been a long time in the making.

“We’re really looking forward to it, you have no idea, we’ve been planning it for about eight months now,” he said.

Mr Sellenger said doing the big walk for charity was a natural progression from their holiday plans.

“We thought if we were going to be doing this big thing we may as well try and raise money at the same time,” he said.

“I’ve been with Camp Quality for a couple of years now so it came about as a good idea.”

Their hike will start from Kalamunda and head south through Dwellingup, Collie, Balingup, Pemberton and Northcliffe before heading east toward Albany through Walpole and Denmark.

Mr Wilson said they would first drive through the towns, dropping off dried food supplies, to ease the weight in their backpacks once the walk begins.

The epic adventure begins on Saturday, January 21.
