Dick Turpin settles in Narrikup

JOSH NYMANAlbany Advertiser

Leading Great Southern thoroughbred breeder Mungrup Stud welcomed the newest addition to its stable with the arrival of highly prized English stallion Dick Turpin last week.

Mungrup owners Jan and Gray Williamson, who have taken on Southern Hemisphere studding rights of the sire, could barely contain their excitement at the arrival of the Richard Hannon-trained dual Group 1 winner on Tuesday, September 4.

Mr Williamson said Dick Turpin had settled well into his new surrounds in Narrikup after his long journey from England.

“We are so excited to have such a well credentialed stallion standing at Mungrup Stud and in WA on the whole,” Mr Williamson said.

“He’s an outstanding type, as you would expect of a horse never beaten outside of Group 1 company.”

Dick Turpin amassed more than 1.15 million Euros of stake money in 20 Northern Hemisphere career starts before retiring at the end of 2011.

He will be returned to England in December.
