The oldest cafe in Albany will celebrate 30 years in the industry this Thursday.

Cosi’s Cafe was established in 1986 by Cosi Trichilo and has remained popular in the years since. Mr Trichilo who now owns Espresso One, sold Cosi’s in 2003.

It was sold for a third time a few years later before coming to rest in the hands of Giuseppe D’Antonio and his wife Carmela.

The couple took over Cosi’s in October 2013 and Mr D’Antonio said it was great to be part of the cafe’s legacy.

“To own a place like this is great, for it to have been here for 30 years, to be part of one of the oldest cafes in Albany — it’s a privilege,” he said.

“It’s been good to me, busier than what I expected, which you can’t help to be pleased with.”

The cafe has always been known as Cosi’s Cafe despite the change of owners and Mr D’Antonio said it would remain that way.

“It’s been here so long people are used to the name ... for me to change the name didn’t make much sense,” he said.

Mr Trichilo said he was pleased the cafe had stood the test of time.

“There are a lot of great memories that have been made here,” he said.
