Wooroloo fire: Bushfire advice issues for raft of Perth suburbs as blaze threat spreads

A swathe of Perth suburbs are now being told keep up-to-date with the latest information with a bushfire advice warning now expanded to areas in the cities of Wanneroo, Joondalup, Gingin and Stirling.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued a bushfire advice – the lowest warning level – that covers a string of suburbs including Malaga, Marangaroo, Ashby, Koondoola, Carramar, Wanneroo, Ballajura, Beechboro, Lower Chittering, Caversham, Darch, Banksia Grove, Balga, Girrawheen, Landsdale, Alexander Heights and Nowergup, Yanchep and others.

Parts of the Perth Hills, including Hovea, Stoneville, Parkerville, Mount Helena, Greenmount, Jane Brook, Swan View, Chidlow, Mundaring, Wooroloo and Sawyers Valley also remain under a bushfire advice warning.

DFES is warning that while there is no immediate danger, residents in the affected areas “need to be aware and keep up-to-date in case the situation changes”.

“There is a lot of smoke in the area … people in this area can expect smoke and ash throughout the day,” the warning states.

Residents should stay alert and monitor their surroundings, watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames, close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air-conditions but keep water running through the system if possible.

People should also read through their bushfire survival plan and have a plan in place in case the situation gets worse.

The bushfire is still out-of-control and unpredictable.

A bushfire emergency warning remains in place for some areas in The Vines, Bailup, Ellenbrook, Gidgegannup, Millendon, Walyunga National Park, Upper Swan, Aveley, Henley Brook, Avon Valley National Park, Red Hill, Belhus, Baskerville, Herne Hill, Bullsbrook, Wooroloo and Brigadoon.

Residents in those areas are in danger and need to act immediately to survive.

A watch and act warning is in place for parts of Dayton, Ellenbrook, Melaleuca, Gidgegannup, West Swan, Henley Brook, Brabham, Hovea, Stoneville, Wundowie, Middle Swan, Parkerville, Red Hill, Mount Helena, Jane Brook, Lower Chittering, Avon Valley National Park, Bullsbrook, Muchea, Herne Hill, Chidlow and Wooroloo.
