Three gymnasts from Denmark Gymnastics Club have been selected for the WA Country State team to perform at the Gymnastics South Australia Championships next week.

Radha Hamilton (level four), Ginger Gleeson (six) and Ruby Welsh (seven) will represent WA at the championships in Adelaide from August 31 to September 3.

The trio’s selection came after their dominance in all four apparatuses against 150 competitors at the Gymnastics WA Regional Championships last month.

They will each compete against the other States in uneven bars, balance beam, floor and vault events.

Club head coach Michelle Headley, who was also selected as WA team manager and coach, said it was extremely satisfying after the hard work they have dedicated.

“The girls put in a lot of hard work training up to 12 hours a week,” Headley said.

“They have put the hard yards in and the commitments from them and their parents to get these achievements is extremely rewarding.”

Headley said it was a great reflection on the talent in regional areas at a grassroots level.

“It’s really good for the regional teams as well to be able to get these opportunities,” she said.

“It’s great for the region to come together and perform to produce some good athletes at a junior level.”

The club claimed the gold plate award for healthy living at the Gymnastics WA awards night in February and finished in the top five for regional club of the year.
