More than 80 people gathered at Emu Point on Friday for the Fishability Albany end-of-year barbecue where awards were given out for the biggest fish caught throughout the year.

The not-for-profit community organisation offers and delivers activities and programs so that people of all abilities are able to enjoy the outdoors and experience fishing rewards.

The sun was out and shining as attendees took advantage of the sausage sizzle and trishaw rides on offer.

Awards were handed out by Albany MLA Rebecca Stephens, with Josh Spouse taking home the first prize for his 33cm catch.

Evelyn De Jager took second prize and Ashiley Mills was awarded third.

Fishability executive director Michael McMullan and Albany deputy mayor Paul Terry were also in attendance at the waterside gathering for the award handouts.

Fishability Albany Jetty Program coordinator Timothy Vokins said the turnout was fantastic.

“The day was awesome, we had David Templeton, Paul Terry and Michael McMullan come out for the day,” he said.

“It was a fantastic day.”
