GSFL 2023: Albany and Railways set to lock horns in Great Southern Football League grand final rematch

Albany and Railways will face off for the first time since last year’s grand final, headlining round four in the Great Southern Football League.

Both sides are locked on 12 points each, having won all three of their opening games in a perfect start to their respective seasons.

The Tigers notched their first win over North Albany in round one followed by an emphatic victory over Mt Barker in round two and a 55-point triumph against Royals last Saturday.

The Sharks were 182-point winners over Denmark-Walpole in round one and then rattled off hard-fought wins over the Lions and Kangas in round two and three respectively.

Despite their heartbreaking 2022 grand final loss, the Sharks will be full of confidence riding their current form but will have a tall task in defeating the premier team in the competition for the past two seasons.

The Tigers are riding a 14-game winning streak in the GSFL, their last defeat coming in round seven last season against Mt Barker.

All games will be played on Saturday this weekend, with one match moved from Sunday due to Mother’s Day.

The Lions and Magpies are still chasing their first wins in 2023 with the pair set to do battle at Retravision Stadium.

The other fixture, between the Bulls and Kangas at Sounness Park, will be the live-streamed game of the round.
