Inglewood United’s Shubham Mokala sent his side into raptures after a deflected wonderstrike found its way into the back of the net to cap off a miraculous comeback 3-2 win in the opening round of the NPL WA men’s season.

Inglewood looked gone for all money after two first-half goals to reigning champions Floreat Athena.

Mokala made it a little easier with his first goal shortly after the break, before a crisply-executed set piece drew the sides level before the hour mark.

At the 68-minute mark, Mokala struck again.

The Inglewood hero took possession at the edge of the box, spun out of trouble and let fly with his left foot.

The Floreat-Athena keeper looked pretty well across it until a deflection nudged the ball outside of his reach and into the top of the net.
