Ash Brazill has been a sporting trailblazer in 2019, representing Collingwood in both the Super Netball and AFLW competitions.

But it’s the impending arrival of her first child with wife Brooke that has Brazill most excited about 2019.

“I’ve always wanted to be a mum and Brooke and I have always been pretty open about that,” she revealed to Today Tonight.

But before her baby’s arrival, Brazill is back in the green and gold, taking on New Zealand in this Sunday’s series-deciding Constellation Cup clash in Perth.

“To play against New Zealand, number one team in the world, and be in the green and gold is an unbelievable feeling,” she said.

“Definitely living the dream...(it’s a) bit surreal... hard to put into words but definitely loving it.”

Coach Lisa Alexander admits she was unsure if Brazill – a one-time West Coast Fever captain – could manage the workload of both AFLW and Super Netball.

“Athletically she's gifted but it has been a case of her being able to handle both sports,” Alexander said.

“I was a bit of a sceptic when she first started but it’s actually added to her netball.”

Now back in the Diamonds fold after a long wait behind noted wing defenders Renae Ingles (nee Hallinan) and Gabby Simpson, Brazill says representing Australia is a “dream come true”.

“Making the All Australian (team) for AFLW, playing a pretty good season for Collingwood and now representing the Diamonds in netball… it’s been a whirlwind,” she said.
