A share in six premium-bred horses for only $200? It sounds too good to be true.

But that’s exactly the opportunity that awaits everyday Australians who sign up to The Racing League.

Racing’s latest innovation in micro-ownership, launched today, will pit four States against each other and brings the tribal nature of following a team to thoroughbred racing.

Racing media personality Brittany Taylor is the ambassador of WA’s team, the Black Hearts, named after champion WA galloper Black Heart Bart.

AFL premiership hero Shane Crawford (the Vic Husslers) and State Of Origin legends Laurie Daley (NSW Tycoons) and Billy Slater (Queensland Rogues) are also involved.

Each team will consist of six horses and owners will only have to pay $20 per month in ongoing fees.

Taylor said The Racing League was a potential game-changer.

“For people who might not be able to afford a 1 per cent share, $200 is a really nice entry level,” Taylor said.

“West Australians are the most parochial bunch I know. You see it when our horses go over east.

“I think we’ll leave the other States for dead in terms of the patriotism.”

The four teams will take part in an AFL-style draft, where they each select four yearlings and two ready to race horses that are purchased by bloodstock agents.

“They will be premium-bred horses, so people get the opportunity to race a horse worth a lot of money for only a minimal investment,” Taylor said.

The first season of The Racing League starts next March.
