GWS Giants forward and Claremont and Dampier product Zac Langdon linked with move to West Coast

Out-of-contract GWS Giant Zac Langdon is a strong chance to end up back in his home state of Western Australia this off-season. The West Australian understands West Coast has shown significant interest in the small forward, who is set to announce the club as his preferred destination. The Dampier and Claremont product struggled for senior opportunities as the Giants this season, playing seven of a possible 18 games. His last appearance at AFL level was in the hefty round-12 loss to Sydney. The 24-year-old has spent the past three seasons at Greater Western Sydney after getting picked up as mature-aged draftee. Langdon burst onto the scene with 21 goals in as many games in his debut season but could only manage 10 games in the past two years due to injury and form issues. His 2019 campaign ended early due to ankle surgery in July, meaning he missed the club’s maiden grand final appearance. He is one of several Giants set to find a new home for 2021 and beyond with Zac Williams likely to join Carlton on a long-term deal, Jackson Hately requesting a trade to Adelaide, Jye Caldwell linked with several Victorian clubs and Aidan Corr already informing the club that he will leave as a free agent. The Giants and Eagles would have to agree to a trade deal first, otherwise Langdon will be forced to enter the pre-season draft. Langdon would help bolster the Eagles’ small-forward stocks with premiership livewire Willie Rioli still serving a provisional ASADA ban and several others failing to nail down their spot. West Coast are still waiting on the finalisation of list sizes from the AFL before making calls on some of their players, including veteran Lewis Jetta who is still a chance of getting a contract for 2021.
