Strong field expected at Attwell Park Speedway for inaugural T&C Supplies Southern Street Stock Showdown

A strong field of drivers will contest the inaugural T&C Supplies Southern Street Stock Showdown at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway on Saturday night. It will be another busy night of action for the Albany Speedway Club, with the Southern Street Stock Showdown supported by visiting division the V8 dirt modifieds. More than 20 cars are expected to take part in the Southern Street Stock Showdown, which has a total prize pool of $8000. The winner of the final will pick up $3000, while second and third across the line will take home $1500 and $1000 respectively. Brothers Blake and Matthew Iwanow, along with Cody Avins, are some of the top contenders from outside the Great Southern. Albany’s Paul Bowman, Peter Herbert and Tim Coxall will lead the local charge. Others nominated for the feature include Shane Whild, Ryan Penfold, Trent Claybrook and Matt Hammond. Earlier this month at Mt Barker, Bowman took home the spoils in the Ronnie J Memorial for street stocks. Bowman was too strong for Claybrook and Lincoln Coleman in the final and will come into the Southern Street Stock Showdown full of confidence. The V8 dirt modifieds will contest round seven of their club championship during the visit to Albany, with five cars nominated this week. Formula 125s, junior sedans, production sedans and super sedans will be part of the support program. Gates open at 3pm and racing starts at 6pm on Saturday.
