Perth weather: Almost 30mm of rain recorded in Perth over 24hrs as Bickley cops drenching

The city has recorded a heavy 28mm of rain since 9am on Tuesday as Perth’s wild weather continued to feature in Perth’s morning commute.

Receiving the most rain in a 24-hour period since June 2, some locations in the hills copped a drenching, with Bickley hammered by 49.8mm.

BOM Meteorologist Jessica Lingard said the city’s rainfall was “pretty much on par” with conditions forecast over the period.

“We were predicting a moderate to strong cold front to come through, and that’s what we got,” Ms Lingard said.

While some dwellings were battered more heavily, the coast escaped much of the downpour.

Garden Island received just 10mm, while Mandurah remained far dryer with 5mm over the 24-hour stretch.

Perth can expect the wet weather to ease for the remainder of the day, with a chance of short-lived, isolated showers in some areas.

Families have been largely fortunate over the school holiday period with dry weather a feature, as the brighter forecasts are expected to return for the back end of the week.
