Polonia A completed the cherished league and cup title double when they prevailed 3-2 over a gallant Caledonians outfit in the Great Southern Soccer Association men's Federation Cup final on Saturday afternoon.

After claiming the men's mixed league title earlier this season, Polonia A were pushed for the entire 90 minutes by Caledonians but a second-half header from Geoffrey Bosh proved the difference.

Caledonians striker Fraser Grant opened the scoring but Polonia A hit back with a clever strike from Alex Torley and then a Leroy van den Dool header helping their side wrestle back momentum.

Polonia A led 2-1 at half-time but the work of Caledonians striker Fraser Childs got his side back on level terms midway through the second half.

However, Childs' strike was quickly cancelled out by the Bosh header as his efforts put Polonia A back in front.

From that point, Polonia A defended with purpose and went on to claim a tense 3-2 victory.

Jake Ferrell was terrific in midfield and Torley was also influential.

Polonia A coach Stig Hedman was full of praise for his young side's efforts this season.

"I am delighted for the sensational effort of Polonia A on the weekend, winning both the cup final and league considering half the team are Year 12 students," Hedman said.

"The game was hard won and fairly fought.

"My defensive line worked extremely hard and to have such a powerful striking force with the likes of Geoffrey Bosh and Alex Torley along with Jake Ferrell, an outstanding player and committed captain, was the winning recipe."

Caledonians were best served by central midfielder Toby Hutchins while Fraser Grant and Childs were both lively up front.

Despite the narrow loss, Caledonians coach Doug Grant said it was a terrific cup final played in great spirits.

"It was a good, competitive cup final," Grant said.

"Over the 90 minutes, they were a bit fitter than us and they were a bit hungrier.

"When we played our semifinal last week, we had a few guys away so we were really pleased that we got through."
