The new Orana Coles supermarket officially opened its doors to the public yesterday morning.

The store, on Albany Highway, will be open six days a week and has created about 80 new jobs.

Regional manager Daniel Palumbo said the store was something new for the community.

"We have so many new concepts here - from our fresh produce on ice and open olive bar to our full in-store bakery," he said.

"It's a world-class supermarket and we can't wait for everyone to see it."

Store manager John Craven-Kelly said he was excited to work with the community and hoped to aid local programs.

"This new store isn't just for us but for the town of Albany," he said.

"How we can connect to the community is what I want to focus on.

"We are also looking at options for charities and organisations to apply for fundraising opportunities, similar to a Bunnings sausage sizzle."
