Harvey footballer Lockie Hernaman’s cause of death a mystery as devastated family left without answers
A Harvey mum says she'll never have closure following the sudden death of her son on a country football field.
Lockie Hernaman collapsed at training in April and sadly never woke up.
The previously fit and healthy 20-year-old’s death rocked the entire Harvey community.
Four months on, Lockie’s mum Mel says she’s now been told her son’s cause of death is “unascertainable”.
“It’s unfair. I can’t understand why and how this has happened,” she told 7NEWS.
“They checked his heart, his lungs, his liver, his kidney, they did vital testing.
“They’ve tested everything and every thing’s come back normal.”
Ms Hernaman said she received the cause of death information in a letter from the coroner.
“I just so desperately wanted answers,” she said.
“We’ll never know what happened to him.”
A post mortem conducted on the 20-year-old came back “indefinitive”.
“I just, I know he didn’t suffer,” she said.
“He was just a perfect person in this world that’s been taken away from no reason.”
