Great season ends with awards
Albany Surf Life Saving Club wrapped up their successful 2014-15 season with the junior and senior presentations held at the ASLSC and Princess Royal Sailing Club respectively last week.
The senior awards were held last Friday night where Albany MLA Peter Watson was on hand to present trophies and medals to the high achieving competitors from the season.
A number of new faces picked up awards which was fantastic to see.
Collin Pass was named the male club champion and Beth Hearle was awarded the female club champion honour to go with her female points champion award.
Mark Proudfoot won the male points champion trophy, James Hearle claimed both the male cadet club champion and points champion awards while Emily Turner won the female cadet points award and Lucy Marting took out the female cadet club champion.
Other club awards included Ainslie Mason winning the David Smith memorial trophy club person of the year, Lucy Martin won the Junior club person of the year and the Hadn & Jann Hood champion lifesaver went to Gavin Shepherd.
Surf Life Saving WA board member Gary Williams presented ASLSC president Celia Waugh with a cheque for $3550 towards administration costs in recognition of the fantastic growth the club has experienced in recent times.
On Sunday, the juniors enjoyed sponge fights, tug of war, IRB rides and many other fun activities prior to their presentations.
This season the ASLSC had the highest level of competition for many years in juniors with the largest contingent ever attending the Country Championships and eight headed to the State Championships.
Sophie Lynch took out the junior club achiever award from Surf Lifesaving WA.
