Denmark Bakery boasts the best gourmet sausage roll in Australia after winning the title at a prestigious competition in Sydney last week.

Co-owner Sean Cleary said their Thai chicken creation's powerful flavour punch impressed Official Great Aussie Pie and Sausage Roll Competition judges.

Mr Cleary said the team was ecstatic to claim the award and bag eight gold and two silver medals - their best result in eight years of competing.

"It is considered the Olympics of pie-making and has the most kudos attached to it," he said.

"I am extremely proud of the team, who all work very hard."

Mr Cleary said the crown had capped off their best year.

The bakery won most successful baking exhibitor, apprentice and champion loaf at the West Australian Baking Industry Awards in May, and best pastie in the country at the Official Great Aussie Pastie Competition in June.

At the Perth Royal Bread and Pastry Show this month, they won most successful bread and pastry exhibitors and champion loaf, as well as a swag of other medals.

Mr Cleary anticipated a surge in the bakery's strong following as a result of the accolades.

Mt Barker Country Bakery's curry beef and prawn and chorizo pies won the Great Aussie Pie and Sausage Roll Competition's red meat and seafood categories respectively, and racked up a medal tally of six gold, two silver and one bronze.
