Perth Wildcats captain Damian Martin will be among the hundreds of participants set to take part in the second instalment of the Chevron City to Surf for Activ in Albany next month.

Martin, who is one of two ambassadors for the Activ Foundation this year, visited Albany encouraging Activ employees to register for the Albany leg of the event on Sunday, August 10.

The championship-winning guard was kept busy signing autographs and mingling with fans at the launch of the Albany event on Monday afternoon.

He said raising awareness of Activ and its fundraising goals was something he could relate to.

He said his mum's work as a high school student aid had shown how important Activ was in the community.

"My mum was rapt that I was getting involved," he said.

"The coaches were pretty happy too that I will be running in each of the regions."

The inaugural regional series last year attracted close to 500 participants in Albany, with plenty of teams also forming for the cause.

Martin met The Activ Heroes on Monday, who will once again take part this year. Captain Melynnda Jelley said she hoped to double her team's members this year, and that it would be impossible to miss them in costume.

"Last year we had 18 people but we want to double that this year," she said.

Runners, walkers and wheelchair participants can take on 12km and 4km distances with individuals and teams encouraged to register.

Participants can register for the race online at perthcitytosurf.com and at everydayhero.com.au to fundraise for Activ Foundation or their chosen charity.
