WA’s 2022 Telethon House set to be built in Madora Bay, Mandurah
Madora Bay has been one of the fastest-growing areas in Perth in recent years, with houses popping up all over its new estates.
But there will be few as important as the latest concrete slab poured in Satterley’s Seaside Estate.
On a 500sqm corner block, the slab will be home to the first Telethon House to be built in two years.
The house has been designed and donated by Home Group, while Satterley, which has been working with Telethon for more than 40 years, has also donated the land to ensure all proceeds of the home’s Sale by Set Date will go directly to Telethon.
Anthony Silvestro from Home Group said the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home would be quintessentially West Australian.
“I think people can look forward to seeing a very West Australian-designed home that suits the lifestyle of WA families in a seaside estate,” he said.
“We’ve taken into account when designing the home large living spaces, big bedrooms, kids’ spaces, activity room and an entertaining area for guests and friends.”
The kitchen will also be a feature, with a huge island bench with waterfall ends and double wall ovens, all finished off with a feature dropped ceiling and glowing light trough.
The home is set to be complete in late August, ready for home opens and just in time for the 2022 Telethon Weekend on Saturday, October 22, and Sunday, October 23.
Mr Silvestro said the home had been marked as a high priority to ensure all the materials arrived on time.
“The highest priority has been put on this home because it is being sold for the most important cause and we have flagged it with all partners, suppliers and the teams we work with,” he said.
Satterley chief executive Nigel Satterley said he was excited to be back working to produce a Telethon Home in one of Perth’s fastest-growing areas.
“The uplifting personal stories that Telethon recognises and celebrates of those who show resilience and courage, and the support of their families and carers, represent the very best of our community,” he said.
“Creating thriving, happy communities is at the heart of what we do and being able to give back to the community in this way is incredibly rewarding.”
The Seaside Estate is less than an hour from Perth and just 7km from the heart of Mandurah.
It is surrounded by schools, including the Madora Bay Primary School set to open in 2023, parks and sporting facilities and is within walking distance of Lakelands Shopping Centre.
Mr Satterley said he expected the home to go for more than $600,000.
