Perth beachgoers urged to exercise caution as shark detections rise
Perth beachgoers have been placed on alert with authorities warning of an increased shark presence.
Three tagged white sharks have been detected multiple times at different receiver locations, according to the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
Receivers between Trigg and Scarborough appear to be a hotspot, with 11 detections between Wednesday and Friday.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely, with daily Surf Life Saving WA’s Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service aerial patrols.
In Esperance, two tagged white sharks have been pinging receivers at West Beach an average of nearly three times a day — 17 detections since October 25.
Beachgoers are urged to take additional precautions and be aware of beach closure advice, check the SharkSmart website and report shark sightings.
