Every August, Australia Post runs Stamp Collecting Month, encouraging people to take up the hobby.

The month also educates primary school students on curriculum themes such as history, geography, science, technology or the environment.

This year’s theme is Reef Safari with the release of five stamps showcasing some of the diverse and threatened species found on the Great Barrier Reef.

To celebrate Stamp Collecting Month the Centennial Park Post Office worked with five students from Flinders Park Primary School to learn about this year’s theme.

Postal manager Annie Roberts said she was excited to work with the students this month.

“We’re excited by this year’s Stamp Collecting Month theme Reef Safari as it provides a great opportunity to get the kids involved,” she said.

“We also invited a local marine biologist to join us for an interactive session with the students.”
