Champion Vosback in Albany

Women’s cycling world champion Marianne Vos will join hundreds of local cyclists as they weave through some of the region’s most scenic landscapes as part of the Amazing Albany Bike Ride next month.

On November 5, riders will be gearing up for the The Amazing Albany Bike Ride, an 82km course that directs riders to local attractions and tourist destinations.

In 2016, the ride was led out by Dutch cycling superstar Vos and Australian cycling legend Robbie McEwen.

Vos is back in 2017 with her entire WM3 Pro Cycling Team, who will ride with participants, working up and down the group speaking to riders, offering advice and giving the occasional push to those who need it.

The route starts at the National ANZAC Centre on Mt Clarence and proceeds around Princess Royal Drive passing through some well-known spots, including Discovery Bay, Salmon Holes, The Gap, the wind farm and Frenchman Bay.

Cyclists of all types, ages, backgrounds and skill levels will be encouraged to ride, and a 47.5km short route has been included within the longer course to cater for riders of various levels of ability.

The event acts as a prelude to the Tour of Margaret River, an amateur team cycling race that runs through the greater Blackwood Valley.
