RICK ARDON, 7 News Presenter
My new year’s resolution is to be positive about the year ahead, hopefully with peace on Earth - including reflection here in Australia over where we’re heading, with increasing protests and conflict.
We’re blessed to live in Western Australia and I wish all Australians well for a peaceful new year.
SUSANNAH CARR, 7 News Presenter
New Year Resolutions ? How to make one you actually keep?
For 2025 I’m going to try to expand my cooking repertoire, get more sleep, and actually complete the Duolingo language class I’ve signed up for five times .
Here’s hoping !
ROGER COOK, Premier
My personal resolution is to carve out more time with my family, even as we enter the busy election period. Spending time with loved ones is a chance to reset and helps me focus on the things that matter.
I also want to give my garden in Kwinana some much-needed TLC.
My priority in 2025 is to ensure our State goes from strength to strength. We know WA powers the nation so my focus will be to build on our economic success so all Western Australians can benefit.
WA is the best place on Earth. Our future is shining bright and I’m so excited about what’s next for our State.
LIBBY METTAM, WA Liberal Leader
Friends and family are front of mind during the festive season. For me this year is very special as it’s my granddaughter’s first Christmas in WA. My personal resolution is to find plenty of time to spend with her in the coming year.
WA is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family, and given we are coming off the back of a big boom it should be easier for families - many of whom are doing it tough at the moment.
In the coming year I want to help families overcome the cost of living pressures so they don’t need to choose between paying electricity bills and putting food on the table, and to restore confidence in our health care system.
SHANE LOVE, WA Nationals Leader
As we approach 2025, my personal New Year’s resolution is to escalate the fight for fairness and freedom for Western Australians, no matter where they live — because opportunity and prosperity shouldn’t depend on your postcode.
My hope for all Western Australians in 2025 is for safer roads and a summer that spares us the worst of nature’s fury.
This Christmas, I’m looking forward to spending time with my family, especially my grandkids, who are always the best reminder of why I’m committed to delivering a brighter, fairer future for the next generation of Western Australians.
ANTHONY ALBANESE, Prime Minister
We live in the greatest country in the world.
And in the year ahead, with new determination and renewed optimism, we can build an even stronger Australia together.
I wish you all a safe, happy and prosperous 2025.
PETER DUTTON, Federal Opposition leader
Your choice matters.
And, this year, I reach out to all Australians to choose a better path.
Together, let’s end the cost-of-living crisis.
Together, let’s restore good government which gets off your back.
Together, let’s reignite our national confidence, and our sense of hope.
In 2025, together, let’s get our country Back on Track.
CHRIS DAWSON, WA Governor
My hope is that 2025 will bring love, support and connection with family and friends - even though some may live far apart.
Look out for and act with kindness to the lonely, those aged and vulnerable neighbours.
Let us cherish shared moments, no matter how small. Even a smile and a greeting, impacts positively with people.
Our world is becoming more unstable in recent years. In Australia, we have much to be thankful for.
Give thanks for and support those Australians that serve and protect our State and Country.
COL BLANCH, Police Commissioner
In 2025 The Western Australian Police Force will strive to be better than ever at keeping our community safe.
We are committed to being more visible in our community and solving more crimes than ever before.
MADISON HEADY, Disability Advocate
For me 2024 has been like an emotional rollercoaster. But this year, I really valued friendship and community.
I’ve seen how much stronger we are together as a community, and I’ve also seen how our WA community has built a culture of kindness and resilience.
Personally in 2025, I would like to continue to build on this kindness and continue to educate the wider community on disability awareness and inclusion.
I am looking forward to competing in the Australian National Athletics Comps to be held in Perth in 2025, achieving some personal bests, and my New Year’s resolution is to try to take more relaxation time for ME.
GINA RINEHART, Hancock Prospecting
Who wants more businesses failing? Who wants lower living standards? Who wants to add to the seven consecutive quarters of falling living standards? Who wants to see investment continue to leave Australia, to ensure even lower living standards?
Who wants to restrict pensioners, uni students, veterans, disabled from working if they wish, to ensure they are kept struggling in terrible poverty?
Who wants masses of Government-chosen immigrants, to add to our housing crisis, crime crisis, hospitals and healthcare crisis, and of course ultimately our welfare burden, as too few chose to work?
Who wants more of the same, or worse, a Labor-Green government, or a pale version of that?
Well, if you truly want a happy new year, it’s up to you to do all you can to achieve that.
PETE ROWSTHORN, Comedian
I’m turning 62 early in January... 62! I feel 40.
It’s only when I catch my reflection in a shop window that I see clearly I’m in my 60’s. Do I like what I see? Hell no.
New year’s resolution is to turn back time. I’m approaching this in two ways, I’m doing a Fringe Festival show - a very young person’s choice. This should make me feel young and groovy.
And I’m going to avoid reflections of all kinds, always looking forward.
I’ll also work on reducing my man boobs, but there’s nothing I can do about my varicose veins except taunt my children into touching them. Eeeww. Happy new year, my friends.
COLIN FASSNIDGE, MY KITCHEN RULES
My 2025 New Year’s resolution is to work less and be home more.
We have friends coming from interstate so it’s going to be a big family and friends holiday period. There will be lots of swimming, eating and friends staying over. I’m looking forward to some downtime from all the filming.
My favourite Aussie dish would have to be prawns, they are a staple. I like to get the large tiger prawns, cut them in half, leave them in the shell and chargrill them and cook with a little bit of garlic butter.
MATT EVANS, HOME AND AWAY
My new Year’s resolution is to have love and compassion for myself and my achievements so I can have the space and capability to show as much love and compassion to all of my friends and family. Also to be present and enjoy every moment!
STEPHANIE PANOZZO, HOME AND AWAY
Lean into a joyous heart, a peaceful mind and a calm body. Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude!
I don’t have plans just yet, but I am hoping to wake up and start the new year in nature with my family and partner. So maybe an early night might be in order this year haha!
TONY GALATI, Spudshed founder
In 2025, my hope is to see our crops thriving and Spudshed stores busy while staying true to what truly matters—the people who make this journey worthwhile.
It’s not just about feeding West Aussies today; it’s about building something meaningful that supports families and communities for generations.
My vision is for Western Australia to move closer to self-sufficiency, ensuring future food security for all. Success, to me, is about more than just the present; it’s about nurturing a legacy worth sharing with the next generation.
MARK ARENA, PERTH WILDCATS
New Year Resolution: to sink a half-court shot and help the Wildcats win an 11th championship (not at the same time).
After living overseas for so many years, it’s great to spend the festive season in the Perth sunshine while basketball season is in full swing.
LIAM DUGGAN, WEST COAST EAGLES
My New Year’s resolution is to learn a new skill, one that isn’t football related.
I love the festive season because it’s a great opportunity to catch up with all of my friends and family, near and far.
