Top coaching duo headed to Laverton

Goldfields Giants coach Lennon Smartt and his Australian Rules counterpart, Kalgoorlie mentor Rick Butterfield, are taking their skills to the region’s north. The duo will visit Laverton Primary School on December 10 to provide a novel end to the 2024 study year, headlining a series of fun skills events and games for students and interested members of the public. Smartt, who was recently promoted to the Giants’ head coaching role after serving in an interim role for most of this year, said he looked forward to promoting both sporting codes outside Kalgoorlie-Boulder. “It is a great partnership between two sports and clubs coming together to fuse a partnership for the betterment of the rural and regional community,” Smartt said. “We are working with the local community and school in Laverton to put on a great day for the kids.”
