Mines Rovers booked a spot in the Goldfields Football League’s Year 9-10 decider after holding off Kalgoorlie on Sunday by 10 points, 8.12 (60) to 8.2 (50), in the second semifinal.

The Diorites, who were minor premiers, dictated the early stages to lead at quarter-time by 22 points.

But Kalgoorlie fought back gallantly to be within six points at the main break.

It set the tone for an absorbing second half in which both teams added three goals.

However, two majors each to the Diorites’ Adam Magan, Kobe Atkinson and Nathaniel Brown got them over the line.

Dillon Butcher kicked three goals for Kalgoorlie and Zinzan Clark contributed two.

In the first semifinal, Zaiden Barney’s three goals led Railways to a decisive win against Boulder, 9.13 (67) to 5.4 (34).

Thomas Coughlan kicked two goals for the Tigers.

In the Year 7-8 second semifinal, Kalgoorlie beat Railways, 3.12 (30) to 2.3 (15).

Boulder kept their flag hopes alive with a 20-point win against Mines Rovers in the first semifinal, 8.6 (54) to 5.4 (34).
