The strength of local eight ball was underpinned last week when Brody Conroy, Megan Persello and Grant Weekley each represented WA at the blackball national titles in South Australia.

Conroy’s performance in the senior men’s division was outstanding, with his team edged out, 13-12, in the final by South Australia.

Despite the result, Conroy was named to the Australian team for the world titles later this year in England.

Contesting the nationals for the first time, Persello’s average of more than 50 per cent contributed to the women’s team’s overall fourth placing.

Weekley’s many years of experience saw him finish among the top-12 averages in his team’s overall third placing in the Masters division.

Yet another Goldfields player, Shane Alan, represented the ACT at the series.

In domestic first division action last week, Grand Sharpshooters confirmed their status as flag favourites by brushing aside Grand Trolley Boys.

Star and Garter Pirates kept their finals hopes alive by defeating Grand Suns and Grand Masters were too good for Tower Jokers.

In Thursday night’s first division match-of-the round, Grand Masters clash with Trolley Boys, and in division two Grand Workers will be looking to bounce back from last week’s rare defeat when they oppose Main Reef Breakers.
