Kalgoorlie International Speedway will host a string of high-profile events, including the AMCA State titles, among 15 key dates released for the 2024-25 season that opens next month.

A practice day has been set down for October 6 — ahead of the official season-opener, featuring Limited Sprint Cars, on October 19.

The second meeting on November 9 is headlined by the Production Sedans Gold Cup, while the first leg of the annual Kalgoorlie v Esperance challenge will be on December 14.

Esperance hosts the second round on February 8 — a week after the highly anticipated AMCA State title meeting at KIS.

Action on February 15 features the John Cassin Super Sedans.

Cassin, who died in 2022 aged 75, was a former Boulder Speedway Association president who was instrumental in reviving local speedway following a 10-year absence and establishing the existing track on the outskirts of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Work at the site, situated 5km north of the city, started in mid-1991 and by June 1992 $650,000 of work had been completed and the finished product included showers and toilets in the pits area — features that generally were not available at other tracks.

The grand opening took place on November 7, 1992, with Shane Murphy the dominant performer with four straight victories on a night nearly 5000 people went through the gates.

Upcoming events include the super sedans State titles on April 11-12 and the Late Models Red Dirt Rumble on May 3.

The reputation of the KIS circuit was underpinned at the 2024 Red Dirt Rumble with an appearance by then newly crowned Australian champion Joe Chalmers who rated it among his favourites.

The first of three busy bees to ensure the track and facilities are in top condition for the season will be this Sunday, starting at 10am.

Busy bees are also set down for September 29 and October 6.
