Railways teammates Drew Epis and Marley Kelman have burst into contention for leading goalkicker in the Goldfields Football League’s women’s division after they each booted 11 majors in last Saturday’s 28.16 (184) to 0.0 (0) win against Kambalda.

With two rounds of the qualifying series left, Mines Rovers’ Chanelle Halligan is showing the way with 38 goals.

But Epis is hot on her heels with 34 goals from Kelman (32).

Mines Rovers have a bye this weekend for round 19.

However, Epis and Kelman can add to their tallies on Saturday against third-placed Boulder at Digger Daws Oval.

Boulder face a big test, having lost all three games against Railways this season by margins of 51, 66 and 49 points.

The influence last weekend of Epis and Kelman was complemented by Megan Bam and Amelia Pettit, each with two goals.

Also last weekend, Torrie Revell and Jada Hansen each kicked three goals and Halligan and Jess Bolton two in Mines Rovers’ win against Kalgoorlie, 10.8 (68) to 1.0 (6).

After a powerful start paved the way for a quarter-time lead of 28 points, the Diorites were held to a behind in the second term.

But they quickly rebounded and produced a six-goal second half.

Jessica Macdonald kicked Kalgoorlie’s lone goal.

Kalgoorlie this Saturday host Kambalda at Sir Richard Moore Sports Centre.

Ladder:

Mines Rovers 54; Railways 46; Boulder 28; Kalgoorlie 12; Kambalda 0.
