Bunbury enjoy comfortable 23-point victory against Harvey Brunswick Leschenault in SWFL women’s match
Bunbury notched up a comfortable victory against the Harvey Brunswick Leschenault Lions in their South West Football League women’s clash on Sunday afternoon.
In a one-sided affair at Payne Park, the Bulldogs scored 6.6 (42) to Lions’ 3.1 (19) in front of a home crowd.
Neither side saw a great start to the game, with the Bulldogs putting on the offensive pressure and the Lions left scoreless at the first break.
But the home team were unable to translate their visitors’ weakness into a dominant lead, kicking four behinds.
Things improved in the second quarter, with each side kicking their first majors of the match.
But, it was clear HBL were in trouble, heading into half-time with a score less than half of Bunbury’s.
When play resumed in the third quarter, the teams went tit-for-tat, but the visitors ran out of steam in the final quarter, unable to provide a scoreboard response to the home side’s two goals and two behinds.
Bunbury’s Sarina Tassone was the leading goal scorer of the match, responsible for three of the team’s total of six goals.
