Wildlife set to wow walkers
A walk along one of the highlights of WA's premier long-distance walking trail will be held in Albany next month.
Bibbulmun Track Foundation volunteer Ian Rae will lead an 18km walk from Sand Patch to Mutton Bird, from 9am to 4pm, on September 13.
Mr Rae said it would be the first time in about 10 years the not-for-profit organisation had held a social walk in Albany.
"We would like to do two or three guided walks around Albany, Denmark and Walpole a year so people can experience the south-coast section of the track," he said.
"The number of people who have never set foot on the track is surprising."
He said walkers could expect to see wildflowers and possibly whales and dolphins.
Mr Rae has been a guide for a few years and said he enjoyed sharing the experience with others.
The walk is free for members and $15 for non-members, with funds going towards track maintenance.
