The people of Albany signed their way into the history books when they penned birthday wishes in the _Albany Advertiser _and Radio West's People of Albany's Card for the Prince of Wales.

The card collected hundreds of messages from the community wishing the Prince well on his 67th birthday, part of which was spent in Albany on Saturday.

RadioWest station manager Paul Cook said he was grateful to everyone in the community who signed the card and hoped it would become part Albany's royal visit history.

"The response has been really good and I have been really impressed with the way the community has embraced it," he said.

"In 20, 30, 50 years time it will be more of a record of people that were here at the time.

"Everyone will remember when they saw the royals now they will become part of the story."

The card has collected messages from all over the community including Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington, MLA Peter Watson, Great Southern police district Superintendent Dominic Wood and students from local primary and public schools.

The card will be presented to the royal couple at a later date.
