Vegan activists have targeted Narrogin abattoir Hillside Meat Processors on Great Southern Highway, staging a protest yesterday afternoon.

Fourteen move-on notices were handed to protesters after police arrived at the scene around 1pm yesterday.

In a livestream posted to Facebook by activist Tash Peterson, protesters linked to James Warden’s Direct Action Everywhere Perth group could be seen confronted by police.

“Witnessing the animal holocaust at a death camp outside of Perth, Western Australia,” Ms Peterson wrote.

“We have a constitutional right to peacefully protest in a public area and have a moral obligation to protest against the unjust laws that abuse and murder non-human animals.

“The system has amped up to recent events, and they are trying to hide the truth from the public, but we will continue to expose it.”

The Nationals WA moved quickly to denounce the protesters.

“The community is sick and tired of the actions of this minority group who continue to show disregard for hard working WA businesses and families,” Leader Mia Davies said.

“Farmers and food producers have the right to feel safe and secure in their homes and at their places of business.

“They are not the ones breaking the law.”
