Tributes flow after road death
The Albany and Denmark communities have paid tribute to father-of-one Jacob Longwood who was killed in a car crash near Parryville on Saturday night.
According to police, the 39-year-old from Mira Mar died after his Ford Ranger ute left South Coast Highway, near the intersection of Parry Road, and rolled.
Police said it appeared the vehicle had strayed onto the gravel verge before rolling at about 10.30pm. Mr Longwood was the only occupant in the vehicle and died at the scene.
Many took to theAlbany Advertiser’s Facebook page to pay tribute to Mr Longwood, including his sister Gem Longwood.
“Numb. My beautiful brother,” she wrote. “I just saw you on Friday and now you are gone.”
The Albany Vikings Masters Football Club also paid tribute to Mr Longwood in an emotional post on its Facebook page. “It's a very sad day today. We’ve lost one of our own,” the group wrote.
“Jacob ‘Jake’ Longwood passed away last night after a motor vehicle accident. Our thoughts are with his family and friends, especially his little girl Eloise.”
The death brings the Great Southern’s 2016 road toll to 20.
