Dominant local modified sedan competitor Aydan Trewern will be out to capture his fifth GWN7 WA Modified Sedan Series, when the final round is contested at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway on Saturday night.

Trewern holds a slender 23-point lead over Jason Pearce in the points standings, heading into the last round this Saturday while Albany’s Blake Watson is in third place and also a mathematical chance to claim series victory.

After only recently taking over the series lead, Trewern said he was hopeful of a strong result on his home clay to close out the season.

“It should be an interesting finish to the series, Jason was pretty quick in Manjimup (at the last round),” Trewern said.

“He was in front most of the series and then I only got the lead in the last couple of meetings but there is not a lot of difference.

“Albany’s been good to us, so hopefully with a bit of luck on our side we can finish well.”

Trewern said it would be fantastic to win a fifth WA Modified Sedan Series, given the calibre of opposition drivers.

“It would be good to get another one,” he said.

“We had a bit of bad luck at the State title, so it would be nice to win the series again.

“A big thanks to my sponsors for getting me through the season.”

Recently crowned WA champion Matt Noakes is among the field of 15 cars along with Neville Mansted and local trio Miranda Ball, Barry Hall and Steve Beres.

Albany resident Brendan Selleck will also make his first appearance in the series.

The meeting which will wrap up another successful calendar year for the Albany Speedway Club, also features burnouts and the final points night for junior sedans, formula 125s, street stocks and production sedans.

Gates open at 4pm and racing kicks off at 6pm.
