Thirteen is lucky for mum
One Albany wonder-mum has 13 reasons to celebrate this Sunday.
Lisa Colback has accumulated a collection of handmade Mother’s Day cards and quirky gifts to rival most mothers in her 27 years as mother to 13 children.
Mrs Colback describes life in her seven-bedroom home as “crazy”, but says she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Joshua, 26, Naomi, 24, Rachel, 22, Zedekiah, 20, Elijah, 18, Simeon, 17, Samuel, 15, Benjamin, 13, Josiah, 11, Lydia, 9, Bethany, 7, Jordan, 3, and Jedidiah, 20 months, are the apples of her eye.
“There’s nothing in the world you would want to do different, there’s not enough money, or career or travel — it would be nice, but money, time or extra sleep is certainly outweighed by the blessing of having children,” Mrs Colback said.
“It has its ups and downs — it’s great to be able to give to the kids but they give a lot back in their love and enjoyment, and to see them grow and to see them blossom into adults is really special.
“Seeing the little ones learning their first words is lovely, and watching them get out into the world is an achievement.”
With just eight of her children still living at home, Mrs Colback is looking forward to spending time with them at a family lunch on Sunday.
