Telethon raises record $25m
Albany residents dug deep into their pockets at the weekend for Telethon, contributing to the annual fundraiser’s record $25,271,542.
The coastal city raised $19,423, the third-highest amount raised by a regional city.
Bunbury was the highest fundraiser, donating $23,629 while Geraldton raised $19,694.
This year there were a number of million-dollar donors including BHP Billiton, Minderoo Foundation, McCusker Charitable Foundation, Ramsay Healthcare and Wesfarmers.
In the past 47 years, Telethon has raised more than $180 million for sick children across the State.
