Teen indecently assaulted in Albany
Albany detectives are seeking information in relation to an indecent assault on the cycle path linking Middleton Beach and Emu Point on Sunday afternoon.
A 16-year-old female was walking past a pathway which leads to Barry Court at the rear of the Albany Golf Course when a man, believed to be aged is his 40s or 50s, approached the teenager and indecently assaulted her.
Albany Detective Sergeant Todd White said the attack was random and the man had approached the teenager from behind while she was on her phone.
The man is described as being about 184cm tall, is of medium build and has fair skin.
He was wearing silver or gold square-shaped glasses, cream cargo-style pants, a cream zip-up jacket, a dark coloured t-shirt and white walking shoes.
Det. Sgt White described the attack as “brazen” as it happened in daylight in a busy location with several people in the vicinity.
“Given the fact that it’s the school holidays and (the path) is used by quite a number of people to exercise or take their kids to the dog beach, we are quite concerned,” he said.
“We would like to remind people to be vigilant in relation to their own personal safety.”
Anyone with any information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
