A smoke alert has been issued for the West Cape Howe National Park, near Albany, on Wednesday.

The Department of Parks and Wildlife issued the warning this morning with fire crews completing small prescribed burns, following a bushfire in the area in October.

The activity will help reduce the chance of the fire re-igniting under high fire conditions.

The smoke is expected to clear by Thursday morning.

Those with respiratory issues were urged to avoid the area and drivers were urged to take care on roads with low visibility in some areas.
