Skiers record best times
Local and visiting water-skiers recorded several personal best times at the annual Lower Great Southern Water Ski Championships at the weekend.
More than 30 skiers from Kojonup, Boyup Brook, Perth and Mandurah competed in the two-day event held on the Kalgan River.
Current Australian number one in the open men’s jump Steven Moss again led the way, taking out the jump grade with a 55.7m effort, followed by Nicholas Wrenn with 46.8m.
After spending much of 2013 overseas competing, Moss was pleased with his results and to be back on familiar waters.
“We had great conditions, the wind and water were almost perfect,” he said.
Moss also won the Trick A-grade event, with a score of 3800.
George Cavanagh recorded a personal best of 2.5 buoys in Slalom C-grade, on a 14.25m rope.
Olivia Dowding scored her best result yet in Slalom D-grade.
In the Jump, Julian Wrenn jumped 12m which was a personal best.
Other impressive results included Byron Nottle and Sam Beech in the Slalom.
