Second-time hoon loses car
Mt Barker police impounded a Perth man’s car last Thursday after he was clocked driving at 175km/h.
Police intercepted the man travelling south on Albany Highway about 10km north of Mt Barker at 6.30pm.
Under anti-hoon legislation, the 21-year-old, who will be summonsed to appear in Mt Barker Magistrate’s Court, had his high-performance Mitsubishi Lancer Evo immediately impounded for three months.
Mt Barker officer-in-charge Sergeant Al Keogh said the driver had displayed a blatant disregard for the safety of other road users by driving so fast.
It is the driver’s second hoon-related offence.
