Redmond’s rising star in agriculture capped off a year of academic accolades last week, placing in the top 0.5 per cent in the State in rural production studies.

Roxanne Mostert, 17, said she was “very excited” to find out last Monday her efforts had earned her a certificate of distinction from the School Curriculum and Standard Authority in her final year at WA College of Agriculture Denmark.

The achievement comes after she was named best agriculture student in the country at the Kondinin Group and ABC Rural Australian Farmer of the Year Awards in September.

“It topped off a really exciting and rewarding year,” she said.

“I have been blessed with success and it just keeps coming.”

Roxanne scored an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank of 87.15 and hopes to keep hitting the books next month in Albany in the next step of her budding career.

“I am really keen on agricultural science so I am hoping to study at UWA’s Albany campus this year, with intentions to later specialise in livestock production,” she said.

“My dream job would be to consult farmers on nutrition rations to boost profitability.

“The school and my family have really supported and nurtured me.”

Mt Barker Community College student Jessica Murray also received a certificate of commendation for racking up 20 or more A grades in WACE subjects.
